Please join us as we dedicate this beautiful and historic park with a new sign.
Power Canal Park officially opened in 2004 as part of the North Mohawk Street revitalization project. The park site was once a section of the original Erie Canal, and later a power canal for the Harmony Mills. The park contains a group of interpretive signs that recount the history of the Harmony Mills Historic District of Cohoes, the Erie Canal, the Harmony Mills, the Cohoes Falls and the Cohoes Mastodon. Today, it’s a popular destination for visitors and Cohoes residents alike.
This dedication opens the city’s Heritage Days events, which will include a community dinner on Friday, and tours, lectures, reenactments and exhibits celebrating Cohoes heritage at locations throughout the city on Saturday.

She was the first woman in New York State to be named to municipal public office. This collection is now on display in the Cohoes Visitors Center, on the ground floor of the Cohoes Music Hall at 58 Remsen Street, Cohoes. Visitors Center hours are Tuesday - Friday from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. See "Grace Reavy" to read a feature article on Ms Reavy from the Fall 2005 issue of the SCHS newsletter.
